Yes, we are dancing circles around a tall pole and getting tangled up in long ribbons. We are laughing and having a great time. We hope you are too. Join us as we turn our faces up to the blue skies and breathe in the sweet air that comes with the month of May.
There is so much to celebrate and so many things to honor. Cinco de Mayo festivities are always fun. This is the month we thank the amazing women who’ve put up with us all these years. On Memorial Day, we salute the fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives in defense of our country.
For just a moment, let’s think outside the traditional holiday box. This month gives us plenty of opportunities. Have you ever considered the fate of mysteriously lost socks and the ones they leave behind? There’s a day that commemorates this singular situation, and it comes with a guaranteed smile.
Can you imagine a world without Frequent Flyer Day? Yes, it is one of May’s many observances, and it’s sure to fire up your imagination. With any luck, you’re finished with spring cleaning. That is definitely worth celebrating.
With a little more luck, you will pick a winner at this year’s Kentucky Derby. If you prefer extreme horsepower, follow the roar of engines tearing up the track at the Indie 500. Both races are favorite May traditions.
How does your garden grow this time of year? The Old Farmer’s almanac calls May the Flower Moon Month for good reason. From bleeding hearts and snapdragons to lilacs and lilies of the valley, our gardens are brimming with blossoms. Hovering hummingbirds and graceful butterflies love it.
Let’s not forget the delicious bounty that fills our plates with creative cooking ideas. It is the season for fresh asparagus frittatas, rich spinach lasagnas and crunchy Southern fried okra. You don’t even have to grow your own. Use that springtime appetite as an excuse to support your local farmers market.
We truly love all 12 months here at HolidayDispatch, but this one is special. It’s a lively, beautiful bridge into summer. It’s a great excuse for pole dancing, and it’s our best shot at hitting the trifecta.
We hope you enjoy celebrating the merry month of May as much as we do. If we don’t see you at the races, we’ll be sure to save you a place under the maypole.
